As a rebellious "later-born", I feel a lot of sympathy for Roger. The SAs are a bossy lot and he sticks up for his engines, his own agenda, and his individuality.
You do not even mention Peggy who also has to put up with a lot. How would you like to be scared of the dark (and of blood) and have a sister like Nancy settting the agenda?
Dick, another of my favourites, is not as typical a second-born, but he also manages to avoid the tyranny of group-think by doing his own thing and just ignoring eighty percent of what is going on round him.
