Dan - Welcome aboard. Just on the Swallowdale question, you'll find if and when you trawl through past TARS publications (including Tarboard) that the whereabouts of the prototype 'Swallowdale' has been a bone of contention for years. There have been at least 6 suggested sites in the Lakes (possibly more) and some elsewhere. This year someone suggested it was in North Staffs! My opinion (and it's purely a personal one) is that 'Swallowdale' is an 'identikit' valley, built up with various little true-to-life parts of lake topography -that's why it's so convincing. Miterdale might have been the starting point, but it's too big and too open for me. However, good luck, Dan!
