Mike - I think you may be right - 'Susie' does ring a bell, but I can't find that version of Susan anywhere. I tried WD first, as the stress put on Susan in the plot might have caused the use of an affectionate nick-name, but I can't find it. It would surely be John who used it - I can't imagine any of the others doing so.
Of course 'Susie' and Rogie' are very occasional nick-names only, unlike 'Titty' which is permanent. Vicky/Bridget seems to vary from book to book !
