I know of Horace, even us uneducated colonials know a small amount of Latin - although I now am of the opinion that the world would be better if we all learned Latin. Personal opinion.

But the translation does not make any sense as a single concept. What has Corinth got to do with leading men? And does he mean political or actors -

So that is my question. Poule de luxe in French does not mean deluxe Chicken, it is a little bit saucier. I was using it as an example. It is the only French idiom I know - ran across it in a Bruno - Chief of police novel by a Guardian writer. It is worth reading.
