Well-behaved programs, it is said, avoid cookies because of the danger
of clutter that David points out: on the other hand their use can
make a program better able to take account of what the user has done
with it on a previous run. To take a case close at hand, use of cookies
in the Ransome quizzes could have ensured that questions are not
repeated from one attempt at a quiz to the next. Comments?
