Moorings, Mr Harris? I presume you want to tie your kangaroo down, or something. Kindly see the Club Sec in the normal way.
Talking of Commodore, thanks to Tim Johns who reminded me (at the Midland AGM yesterday) that that was the name of the famous American jazz record label, which issued recordings by Billie Holliday, Coleman Hawkins and many others. There were 4 of us on our table at lunch talking about jazz, and we fell to wondering how many other TARS were jazzers. Reveal yourselves!
Talking about the Midland AGM, surely it was the most cheerful and upbeat one for years. The Rudyard success has boosted morale no end. Good luck to the new chairman, Doug Maas, who looked the part from the word go. Thanks also to Peter Willis, whose lecturing style could be described as laid-back to the point of out-of-body experience, but whose talk was absolutely gripping - no one fidgetted or left early. The superb slides of 'Nancy' didn't do him any harm, either. A good day, I might say. Well done, all.
