Nancy and Timothy's romance, which some have asked about, was sparked by events in two of AR's books, Pigeon Post and The Picts and the Martyrs. In each case, nancy's natural leadership failed her and was taken up in a quiet but determined fashion by timothy, which astounded nancy no end! Being impressed by someone you had previously written off can be one beginning of a romance.
