Ok - Pemmican.
I've been trying to find out exactly what the "Pemmican" in Swallows and Amazons was. Pemmican appears to be a Red Indian form of preserved meat.
Was "Pemmican" used as a colloquial term by the S&As (like Grog)? Or was there really such a thing back in the early part of the last century?
