Sorry, Andy, I am still laughing too much at Adam Quinan's message and your response to take anything seriously at the moment. Actually I agree with most of your last message, but I take a severely anti-isolationist view. I honestly believe that publication of a bad pastiche of AR would be damaging in itself - someone, perhaps many, would read it and misjudge Ransome literature as a result. Also, the argument that we could all ignore it doesn't really work, because if we don't read it, how can we judge it? Therefore we would have to pay money for it, and thus contribute to its success. This is a frequent modern dilemma and I don't know the answer. Anyway, this is all academic at present, as someone has yet to write a sequel. Perhaps if I am feeling a bit arthurish tomorrow . . .
