There can be changes to copyright, but in Britain it took a Prime Minister to achieve it. The book in question is "Peter Pan" the gift of the rights by J. M. Barrie to Great Ormond Street Hospital for children has proved to be "a significant source of income". The rights should have expired in 1987, fifty years after Barrie's death, but a change to the Copyright Designs & Patent Act ensured that in the UK the hospital will always continue to enjoy the income.
