Adam was fortunate to have a nice mild night to watch the eclipse! Five of us huddled in all our winter clothes and behind a tarpaulin (to cut the vicious wind blowing directly from the North Pole) watching from what at other times is called our sundeck. It was -32 C and passing car drivers must have thought us crazy (as did my eldest daughter, who watched it all from a window). It was eerie to watch a frozen Lake Superior (all right, one tiny corner of it) turn from bright, almost dazzling, moonlight to gloom, to dark, until the stars came out in their millions. (We did take turns to nip inside and thaw out the bits closer to frostbite. Just glad I wasn't Dickish enough to be wearing shorts).
