Fortunately, where I am (Cheshire, UK) there was a cloud window for half an hour at just the right time. The moon looked like a circular piece of lightly done toast for a bit, then got more 'burnt' and then almost disappeared altogether. And yes, it was indeed very 'Dick Callumish' (the preferred adjective in the UK, I suggest!)
