Where has all the water gone?

The level of Coniston these days seems a couple
of feet lower than it was in Ransome's time. The
Amazon Boathouse, if not completely 'high and dry'
is much shallower than a wet boathouse should be.

Does anybody know why?

Sailing in the area of the secret harbour is
really tricky. Could we have our water back,
please?
