On my visit to Conniston in 1988, I bought an inflatable dingy and rowed
over to Peel Island. After geting over my surprise of an additional harbor
next to the the one I had come to see, I was surprised at the different level
of the lake from the books. The watermark on the harbor rocks made it obvious.
I tried to imagine how the harbor would look - had looked, in the past. It
is beautiful now - it must have been truly wonderful in the past to go
further up between the rocks. Now if only I could get back to Britain again,
regardless of the water levels!
