Yes, interesting stats. Incidentally, in my previous message on this thread I forgot that there is a mention of fox hunting in the Auto-biography when AR is describing his great-aunt Susan (I should have remembered, because I put in a bit about this in a 'Who is the G-A?' sketch that Jill Goulder and I performed last year). AR says that 'as long as she could scramble on the fells she could never resist the call of a fox-hunt'. As g-a Susan is described throughout this chapter with great affection, this might seem to indicate that at least AR had no principled objection to fox-hunting, otherwise he probably would not have mentioned Susan's liking for it, or perhaps used more pejorative language than 'resist the call'. Hardly conclusive proof, I know, but it is all we have got.
