Iain, the suggestion of an Arthur Ransome Fan Club was floated in the sixties by TARS first Membership Secretary Keith Paull. He revived the idea around 1986 when Captain Flint's Trunk was published. Christina said she "would have a word with the publishers. With any luck there would't be too many members, and they'd be very congenial people". She got that part right then.
When Keith again suggested it two years later Christina's reply was "Ransome group; a great idea, and judging from the letters I've had
