The Inaugural Meeting of TARS was held at The Windermere Steamboat Museum on Saturday 30th June 1990. Unfortunately, The Minutes of the Meeting do not record the attendance, but the enthusiam of those present overwhelmed the Business part of the Meeting to the extent that the room in which it was held was bursting!
Philip Dalziel of Abbot Hall had for some time been collecting a list of interested persons, and my understanding is that when this list reached a certain point Christina Hardyment or John and Brigit Sanders, I don't know which, decided that the Mavis Restoration Project might bring this interested group together. Sadly, Christina's original letter and the letter thanking people for their contributions are not dated, but judging by their comments they were about late 1989. The rest you know.
