Im not a local and may be off the pace these days, but I believe the only place is at the launching ramp and steamer pier just outside Coniston village.(Turn left just past the petrol station). There is a large car park, toilets and cafe. It is the opposite end of the lake from Wild Cat Island and its a long row. At least the prevailing wind should help you back. There may be info on "Coniston Launch" netsite.
