John, actually GN takes place at a very real location if I remember correctly, although AR
carefully doesn't identify it in the book (and manages a reason within the story-flow for
not doing so). I don't remember the location offhand and I'm currently traveling and without
access to my store of AR knowledge (ie TARS files) but I'm sure somebody else can post it
(again; as Nan pointed out this is a very repetitive subject on the Tarboard). If there
isn't a specific loch in question then the area is fairly closely identified.
I also agree that GN is more likely to be a "real" book. Of the reasons for putting it in
the "made up" set, the being shot falls within a more real-life plot structure. I suspect
that the discrepancy with the holidays is more attributable to AR's having gotten the plot]
from a friend and then built around it, rather than constructing it on his own. This put
the location and requirements different from the holidays construct.
