Thanks to Tim Johns for finding and quoting the passage in Swallowdale
that I was trying to remember, and for showing that I should have said
"Christmas holidays", not "Easter holidays".

Last night I looked at Peter Duck and realised that I had forgotten
about the first half,

"Based on information supplied by the Swallows and Amazons",

of the rubric on the title page. The same phrase appears on the title
page of Missee Lee, but not in any of the other books, and notably not
in Great Northern?.

I think I remember - I hope somebody can supply the details - that in
one of the books, somebody (Titty??), after explaining to somebody else
(Roger??) the correct way of doing something, adds the words "Remember
Peter Duck?". (I think this may be about the correct fog signal to give.
I thought it might be in WDMTGTS but a quick scan of the relevant
chapter failed to find it.)

This is, I think, the only place where one of the books is referred to
by title in one of the others, and seems to show that the speaker was
thinking of Peter Duck as a story.

Finally, on the subject of the shooting in Great Northern?, it's some
time since I read the book so my memory may be at fault, but I thought
the only shots were aimed at birds or dogs, not people.
