You call making Captain Flint a complete twit a "slight variation"?!?! I'm with Peter H - getting good performances out of children is probably more a matter of sympathetic direction than talented acting, but there's no excuse for poor adult casting.

However, my main problem with the film is the lack of vigour and energy throughout what should be a rattling good adventure story. The editing is particularly limp. And it isn't that I'm used to watching current, rapidly-cut films - I saw some screwball comedies from the 1930s on the weekend and they positively rocketed along.
