There is a difference between insisting that every person, place and incident in the books must have a "real" counterpart which AR appropriated and made use of and attempting to seek it out from the flimsiest evidence, and the alternative of suggesting possible inspirations. The former I agree is disrespectful and probably a useless exercise, the other is half the fun of my involvement with the books and TARS since I first realized, after reading Christina Hardyment's book, how much incident and individual did come from AR's life.
