As I suppose I must now classify myself as, at least, middle-aged if not an elder, I will weigh in on the side of a message is better than none. Yes its nice to be able to type and do all those fancy capitals etc., but as one who was always getting told off for bad handwritng, I consider that bad typing is easier to read.

As for the all lower case writers, wasn't one of them a cockroach, mehitabel who didn't have the ability to hold down the shift key and type at the same time?
