It is a coincidence that the Pevensey family and the Swallows are quite similar in make-up, I don't know whether Lewis copied his famly from the Walkers or not, Ransome's books came first. I am sure that Ransome and C.S. Lewis would have been aware of each other but I suspect they didn't move in the same circles. C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien were friends and discussed their respective books in the pub.

Though if you ever read some of C.S. Lewis's "science fiction" books (which aren't very scientific!), Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra and That Hideous Strength, you will find that one of the important characters is called Ransome.
