Robert - if only you had read 'Out of the Silent Planet' first. It has the most spooky and gripping first chapters of any sci-fi I know, even after all these years. 'Perelandra' is hard going - I think the image of a water-based world rather got to C S Lewis somehow. 'That Hideous Strength' is alarming and prophetic, but it seems to me that Lewis tried to cram too much into the book. Great stuff, though, and I have wondered for years whether 'Ransom' and 'Ransome' were connected. We must find out!
