The '63(?)BBC production of Swallows and Amazons introduced me to the wonderful world of Ransome. I beleive Titty was played by actress Susan George in this series, but who played the other roles? Did they stay with acting or head off elsewhere? Whenever I read the books it is these children I picture, as they were my introduction to the characters. I felt they suited the roles particularly well.The Amazons were certainly more feisty than those in the feature film version! - but I was only 9 at the time, so my judgement after 35 years may be flawed!
