I've been meaning to post something that many may already know. In its January, 2000 issue, SAIL magazine listed a choice 19 "Best Booksfor Sailors" and included:

"Swallows and amazons, by Arthur Ransome -- The adventures of a group of kids growing up in and around boats in England in the 1920s. Each chapter involves a new adventure. The seamanship of the kids is excellent, even though they unintentionally go to sea in one of the stories. -- G.P. "

And so it grows... Whenever I go into a bookshop I ask, and if they don't have them, which seems to be somewhat often, I urge. This may help a bit. I hope that David Godine, the publisher in the U.S., knows about it.
