TARS does not re-use lapsed membership numbers, so it is surely possible to 'force the pace' by a number of us resigning and immediately reapplying for membership. In fact, with the co-operation of the Membership Sec, we could rig it so that Peter Willis or myself (or some other suitable candidate (the highest bidder?)) puts in an application at just the right moment to be the 3,000th member, and thus reaps the rewards which the Board are no doubt at this moment planning. Unfortunately the Membership Sec is not likely to go a bundle on this . . .
