Mary Swainson's woodman is called Jack, and the other woodman is Bob (SD chapter 30 etc, and PM chapter 23). Note that both are called a woodman - not woodsman which sounds North American to me (Rose Marie and all that).
Re Jon's list of single characters, Mrs Blackett and Mr Farland are a widow & widower. And also the McGinty if he does not have a wife, as he has an heir the young McGinty. Captain Flint and Mrs Blackett were brought up by the GA, so they must have lost their parents too (or at least their mother?).
