In SA chapter X Nancy says: “Let’s broach a puncheon of Jamaica rum .... she (cook)calls it lemonade”.
In the next chapter Nancy explains that the water breaker was provided because the natives thought that the lake water was not fit to drink, but as they always boiled the water for tea the barrel was used instead for “feastable drinks”.
