Very few characters seem to have both parents, Missee Lee had a father,
the Charcoal Burners had son and father, the Twins in Coot Club
had a father but seem to have lost their mother. Most of his
children seem to have been very careless with their parents.
Quite frankly, these are childrens stories which existed because
the children did the exciting things without parents who were there
only in the case of emergency. An ideal place for parents to be
in childrens stories.
