Do we ever find out any history of the blackett/Turner Family. For example what happened to Nancy and Peggys father and why Uncle Jim was sent away for being the black-sheep of the family.

I get the feeling that there is some kind of Dark sub-text in these stories that is never fully explained. ANy ideas?
