There is a reference to the Walkers being taught to sail by their father the year before S&A, down at Falmouth in Cornwall. (It is certainly a brilliant place to sail as I know, I learnt the basic skills there myself while growing up down there.) And didn't the junk end up there at the end of Missee Lee? Did AR ever go to Falmouth and experiance the place? He must have thought sufficiently well of it to include it in his books. Are there any other references to AR or his characters being down there? I would have particularly enjoyed a book of AR's involving the S&A's having adventures around the myriad creeks that make up the harbour, perhaps while commander Walkers naval ship was in the docks...
