Whilst watching "Monarch of the Glen" on the ABC (in Brisbane) on Sunday night, I was pleased to notice that there was a reference to Swallows and Amazons. One of the characters asks another to take a turn around the lake with him, saying, "It's been a long time since I've played Swallows and Amazons". I was saddened by the fact that he only intended to row and not sail, but was amused when the rowing boat sank (although through sabotage) because no real Swallows and Amazons fan would row in preference to sailing!
