Great Congers! You are absolutely right. The caption of the correct
illustration is "TOTEM AT THE MASTHEAD" and it shows the Jolly Roger and
Swallows flaqs. (And the text explicitly describes the Goblin with the
Eel totem at the masthead and Nancy and Titty hoisting their flags to
the crosstrees.) They just took the original "BLUE PETER AT THE
MASTHEAD" illustration and removed the caption. In fact, it looks as
though the Page 51 illustration isn't original either, but a tracing
or recreation. It lacks detail and the caption is typeset as opposed
to being written in which it originally was. I wonder what happened.
