Kevin, I don't know about the Optimist, but Sandra's D-4 that we're completing should be about the same. I suspect that you may have to do as I plan to do with Tarka when I'll try to sail down to Allatoona Dam from Sweetwater Campground soon: I'll pack a tent and other stuff in a waterproof bag and plan to camp on the shore.
Still, your idea is intriguing. Be sure to let me (us) know what you ultimately decide to do...but don't depend on us for advice. Go ahead and do it, and tell us how! :)
