Mrs Mary Walker was brought up in the Australian country, though not necessarily way in the outback! In SD (ch 8 p 116) she capsizes her cousin’s dinghy in Sydney Harbour. She has been to NZ (ie here) because she comments (ch 15 p 205) on the trout in Australia and New Zealand which are larger than the tiny English tiddlers (throw them back!).
