For those who do not know, a Guinea was in 1930 (and still today!) one pound and one shilling (or £1.05 in new money) - so you can work it out from the table!

I am not aware that guineas are mentioned in the books - but I stand corrected it they are.

Also - true - a pound is a "quid", and I could also say that a half-crown was also known as a "half-dollar" by some (like my father for example) for the obvious reason that, in the 30s at least, it was!
