As a matter of interest, Dave, I used professionally every single one of the units you mention without undue difficulty at the time. (And I still multiply hectares by two-and-a-half to get acres.) I can't speak for your UK exercise books, of course. Or even for ours any more, now I come to think of it, although I think they were pretty similar.
