It is not logical at all that anyone sailing from Singapore to China
would call in at Bangkok since it is in the opposite direction. From
Singapore you shape a course roughly 30 degrees which will put you close
to Hong Kong. To try to reach Bangkok you would have to sail N for about
200 miles, then roughly 330 degrees until you sight the coast of Thailand.
These bearings are true North because I don't know the what compass
variation was in the 1930's - or what it is now, come to that.
