I note from p45 of the current MM that questions were asked at the Members' Forum about the availability to Members of the Ransome Audio tapes of the late 1940s and middle 1950s. For the record; when I acquired these tapes from the BBC for the sum of £525-75 of your money the BBC licensed the Society to use them for research AND listening purposes. On the instructions of the then National Committee I set-up a very successful lending system which some of you may recall. I'm wondering why Ted Alexander, when he was asked about these tapes, didn't either make reference to this or to the fact that Members have a right to them, but instead said "Consideration would be given to a new approach to the BBC!" Regarding the Channel 4 programme ROD & LINE, introduced by Michael Horden; I approached Granada Television, the makers of this programme, and they asked for £1200 plus a percentage of any loan costs. When I reported this to the National Committee it was thought there would be insufficient interest to warrant such expenditure.
