Peter, the tapes, which total about 2hrs 10mins, were acquired in July 1994. There is no time limit on the Agreement. These were advertised on p31 of the 1994 Mixed Moss, and between January 1995 and March 1998 around 30 Members borrowed them. They were also played at the 1995 Ambleside AGM and at Horning The reference to a Vision Archive was premature, we had hoped to also obtain from the BBC all six episodes of the 1963 black and white film, the one Ransome was so cut up about. Negotiations with the BBC got as far as payment, but when they opened the can they were found to have deteriorated so much they were unusable. And, it was only then, that the BBC realised they no longer held the copywrite. I was directed to the National Film and Television Archive, who, apparently, still had the master tapes, but when I approached them they wanted £800 plus VAT per episode. Negotiations came to an abrupt end! I did e-mail Ted Alexander before I posted the details on Tarboard but received no response, which was why I posted. I felt you should be made aware.
