Re. Treacle Do Americans really not know of the stuff? - it makes pretty regular appearences in children's literature, starting with arguably "the beginning" - Alice in Wonderland and the "Treacle Well".
I don't know - no fruit squash, no Marmite, no treacle - how American youth must suffer...
