It should sound like gibberish but I pronounce Gibber with a hard G! There doesn't seem to be any logic to it and normal English
pronunciation rules would dictate a soft G! But somehow it didn't sound right when I first read the books as a boy and it still
doesn't.
Does anyone know how Arthur Ransome himself pronounced the name?
