It has been reported that he uses a road atlas for navigation and that
his reason for sailing is "to find himself". I hope he is better at
finding himself than at finding his destination.
He has now been offered free attendance at a course on elementary
seamanship, which normally costs 500 pounds. As he has already cost the
RNLI many times that much (to say nothing of the risk to his rescuers or
to other potential rescuees whom they might be diverted from rescuing)
that sounds good value for money.
