Dave, you're missing the point. I agree that someone in Devon, UK, might find some PM phrases 'odd', as well as US readers. I don't question the 'oddity', I question the politeness or otherwise of using that expression. Ed Kiser maybe needs to remember that he is posting on a UK site. When he uses the phrase 'Picts and Martyrs oddities' he really means 'Phrases in PM which we in the US find strange'. There is one heck of a difference.
