No, Dave, that's not it. I have no problem with odd = curious. What I am getting at is relative standpoints. I think the problem is really e-mail compression of ideas. When you or Ed say 'PM Oddities' you really mean to say 'PM phrases that seem odd to me although they probably make sense to most UK readers'. That would be the polite form, but you can be forgiven for not keying all that.
One different point which has struck me is that some readers (me for instance) quite like mysterious phrases occasionally in Ransome - they increase the overall 'mystique' - a vital component. I love 'mouse the sisterhooks!', I haven't a clue what it means and PLEASE I DON'T WANT TO KNOW (excuse the shouting). The worst thing I can think of would be an annotated Ransome or a Ransome Glossary. Still, if Ed feels he needs one, then OK, I needn't look at it. But if he ever publishes it, then I will, I promise, sweep them all off Ted Alexander's stall and personally burn them outside. Y'all understand?
