Anyone know where this was (assuming it wa not a total invention). My impression is that it should be north of Potter near Matham or maybe the end of the Kent/Candle dyke .... but it isn't (he says speaking with the assurance of someone who was only there 3 days ago).

The landlord of the Swan at Horning (appears several times in the TV version of Coot Club) seemed to think that the pike was his (well, before it went to a museum). The pub between the bridges at Potter (sorry - I forget the name, but they do some good lunches at very reaasonable prices) had several pike on display, some from ARs day if not before - but surely it is too far south?

Oh - and BTW the wonderful old sport of watching people crahs into Potter bridge is no more (shame!!!!) as you now have to take a "bridge pilot" to go through. And the height of Acle bridge has been raised considerably (though chances are yachets will still have to lower their masts a bit). Still - much entertainment to be had when sitting pint in hand at a number of river-side establishments watching hullabaloos getting their boats or into god-awful messes. Oh the language! How teh locals keep a straight face I don't know.....
