I have never seen any lights that look like distant search lights, but in the right conditions the loom of the big light at Ostend certainly can be seen from well offshore. In fact from the Goblins track lights UP the coast (Goree)(sp?) can be seen simultaneously with West Kappele and Ostend. Not directly you understand, just the loom.
