Keen admirers of Arthur Ransome and his life may recognise my surname - BUSK - as my grandfather (Col Busk) was one of his greatest friends. Secret Waters was dedicated to him and his children (the youngest son of this family was my father.)
As a child my family sailed occasionally in Wizard, the dinghy mentioned in a few of the books, including Secret Water. This belonged to my grandfather and was given, in the 1970's by him to the local scout group - who rather unfortunately, let it decay. However the family are still in possession of the original oars and wonder if there is anyone who would like them??
